The F. Holland Day House & Research Services The Norwood Historical Society houses two substantial historical collections: a local history collection and the archives of F. Holland Day. The Norwood Historical Society's local history collection includes papers, photographs, artifacts and ephemera documenting the history of the town from its inception as the South Parish of Dedham, through its separation in 1872, and into the current time. Records include family memorabilia, business records, municipal and government reports, and various collections of social and civic organizations. There are also genealogical records of many of the founding families of the community. The archives of noted American publisher and photographer F. Holland Day (1864-1933) include a collection of correspondence, scrapbooks, artifacts and family photographs. The F. Holland Day correspondence has been microfilmed by the Archives of American Art, a Division of the Smithsonian Institution and is available via interlibrary loan. A copy of the microfilmed papers is also available for viewing at the Morrill Memorial Library in Norwood. We recommend any researcher interested in any aspect of Day's life begin with these microfilmed records. For more information about F. Holland Day, click here. Researchers and students are invited to contact the Norwood Historical Society for additional information about the archives. Please note: The Norwood Historical Society is a volunteer-run organization, so it can sometimes take a few days for us to return phone calls and emails. Thank you in advance for your patience.
